Sweet & Sour King Prawns

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Blue Dragon Sesame Oil
  • 8 tiger prawns, raw, de-veined and peeled
  • 1/2 red pepper, cored, deseeded and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 green pepper, sliced
  • 3 spring onions, trimmed and cut into 2.5cm lengths
  • 100g fresh pineapple, diced
  • 2cm fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • 70ml Blue Dragon White Rice Vinegar
  • 50ml water
  • 70g sugar
  • 70ml tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp cornflour, mixed with a little water

Sweet & Sour King Prawns

An easy take-away favourite, that you can re-create in the comfort of your own home

Preparation:

  1. Heat the Sesame Oil in a wok, then add the prawns and stir fry for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the remaining fresh ingredients and heat through.
  3. Mix the Rice Wine Vinegar, water, granulated sugar and tomato ketchup and add to the wok.
  4. When the sauce starts to boil, add the corn flour to thicken. Serve immediately with plain white rice or egg fried rice.

Useful tip:

Prawns can be cooked with the shell intatct - especially successful when cooked over a barbeque... more

I couldn't believe that this recipe had ketchup in it, but it was actually very tasty! Prawns are my absolute favourite!
