Chinese Stir-fried Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 savoy cabbage
  • 10 rashers streaky bacon
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 cm fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 50g butter
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice powder

Chinese Stir-fried Cabbage

Try this dish as a great accompaniment to roast pork, or gammon

Preparation:

  1. Very finely shred the cabbage. Set aside.
  2. Finely chop the bacon rashers and fry until pink in the oil. Add the finely diced ginger, garlic and onion. Fry until golden and the bacon is crispy.
  3. Add the butter. Then add the cabbage, sprinkle over the Chinese 5-spice and stir fry for 5-6 mins until cooked. The cabbage should retain a crisp texture.
