Water Chestnuts

Water Chestnuts

Water chestnuts are generally used by the Chinese, to grind into a flour. They are used as a thickener and in the making of dim sum. Alternatively they are peeled and roasted on skewers as a light snack, or candied much like toffee apples. They have a crunchy bite to them and for this reason are often included in vegetarian stir fries for added texture.
