Spring Onions

Spring Onions

Native to Mongolia and Siberia, the spring onion is now found all over the world. In China the spring onions can grow several feet tall and are sweeter and less powerful than their western counterparts. The Chinese describe them as 'fragrant' and they form one part of the 'holy trinity' of Chinese cooking, with garlic and ginger. Also known as: Scallions, salad onions, green onions.
