Nonya Cuisine
A style of cuisine found in Singapore, Panang and Malacca devised by the Chinese migrants who settled in these areas over the past few centuries. Nonya cooking is the result of blending Chinese ingredients and wok cooking techniques with spices used by the Malay community. The food is tangy, aromatic, spicy and herbal and makes use of ingredients such as coconut milk, pandan and candlenuts amongst others. Also known as: Peranakan, nyonya.
