Guava
There are many varieties, but the most common is the middle sized guava with yellowey-green skin and salmon-pink flesh which grows on trees with large, light coloured leaves with prominent parallel veins. They have a central ball of small, edible but quite hard seeds. In the middle of this ball is the sweetest and softest pulp found in the guava. Ripe guavas are eaten as they are or in sweet desserts, however fruit that is under-ripe is favoured by most Asian countries for its sour properties in salads or nam prik.
