Cho Hou Bean Paste
Chu-hou paste is a Chinese ingredient made with yellow soy beans, wheat flour, sugar, fat and sesame. Lard used to be used, but brands that export to the west favour peanut oil or other vegetable oils instead. It was named after a chef who worked in Foshan near Canton at the beginning of the C.19th and it is used in poultry and seafood dishes.
