Bread Fruit

Bread Fruit

This fruit is large in size, with a knobbly skin and starts out green but then ripens to a browny-yellow. Its main component is starch. It is roasted, boiled, or fried as a staple food. In Asia it is seen as a savoury food, although when ripe it can taste sweet and custardy in texture.
